HNW players jockey for position
High net worth was the big growth area last year, and the new players will be looking to establish themselves
Last year was a remarkable one for the high net worth (HNW) sector. It’s not an area generally associated with upheaval and change, but 2011 has put paid to that. It began with RSA’s purchase of Oak Underwriting in April and this was swiftly followed up by the insurer’s acquisition of HNW broker, Noble Marine and its underwriting firm Noble Marine Underwriting Services.
Whether these two purchases, which came as a surprise, galvanised that market into action is unclear, but it certainly did
