Broker buying spree continues

Brokers began the second half of 2010 in a flurry of acquisition activity with Bridle Insurance snapping up two buys and further purchases from MRIB and Cullum Capital Ventures (CCV).

Following June's acquisition of Swansea-based broker Associated Householders Services, Bridle has bought Southampton Insurance Services (SIS) and Leicestershire-based Abbot Insurance, which specialises in niche personal lines insurance, both for six figure sums.

The current SIS managing director, Phil Shephard, and his team will relocate to Bridle's Southampton Centre. The broker said that SIS had strong contacts in the sports insurance arena, being able to cater for both personal and commercial
