AA warns flood defence cuts could make hundreds of thousands of homes uninsurable
AA Insurance is urging the Government not to cut spending on flood defences in its autumn comprehensive spending review.
In an open letter to the Rt Hon Caroline Spelman MP, the Environment Secretary, Simon Douglas, director of AA Insurance, said that any cut in spending on protecting flood prone parts of the UK could see hundreds of thousands of homes becoming uninsurable and thus un-mortgageable and that insurance premiums would inevitably rise for everyone.
