Thatcham to invest in vehicle safety research
Thatcham has announced it is to invest in vehicle-based research in an attempt to mitigate rising motor insurance claims costs.
The research centre, which is funded by UK insurers, will undertake testing of emerging technologies such as autonomous emergency braking systems (AEB) and is to invest in new facilities which will allow it to gain full Euro NCAP accreditation.
Thatcham will also introduce an online portal where vehicle data can be exchanged with insurers, vehicle manufacturers and repair body shops.
