This month, Insurance Age is celebrating serving the broking community for 30 years. I think it is fair to say that the magazine has come a long way since the 1970s and so has the broking market that it follows.
The first issue of the magazine cost just 50p and had a rather nightmare-inducing advert from Sun Life Assurance in the bottom corner.
The front cover headline in May 1979 was 'Broker market loses £0.6m a year client', which reported that a dozen brokers and 20 insurance companies had lost
