It’s time to put the unpleasant campaigning behind us and work towards making the break with the EU work for all parties, says Paul Upton
I can’t remember an issue which has exposed more political and social divisions than Brexit.
The litany of name calling, lazy stereotyping and general unpleasantness from the more extreme elements of both sides of the debate has been well documented in the media. A combination of naked triumphalism by some Brexiters and rather graceless non–acceptance of the referendum’s outcome by some remainers have made for uncomfortable reading and viewing.
