Q: We have a growing composite business and are spending more and more money on IT. We are wondering if we should take on a full-time IT manager? Can you give us any advice about the sort of person we should be looking for?
Technology is becoming ever more important in our industry. Gone arethe days when all that was required was someone to just switch on the
central machine each day.
With networked PCs, EDI, the Internet, document management, and workflow,
specific skills are now needed. Many of these can be bought in as
required, but, as a minimum, there needs to be a small core of expertise
for day-to-day support, and a manager to control all the various aspects
and ensure you continue to move forward.
