Insurance companies will be forced to join the Financial OmbudsmanService in November and will be legally bound to submit to the FOS'
recommendations.
Changes to regulation will make insurers statutorily obliged to sign up,
in a shift away from the old, voluntary regime. The FOS is a free and
independent alternative to the courts, resolving disputes concerning most
areas of private finance.
