There was panic in Radio 4's The Archers recently when Nigel Pargeterfeared that death watch beetle had been discovered in the roof beams of
his ancestral mansion. The cost to eradicate the pest and replace the
damaged timbers would have been £100,000. To be covered for such an
occurrence under a High Net Worth (HNW) insurance policy would not have
cost him such a fortune.
"The HNW market is relatively soft at present, and while I think it has
bottomed out, capacity exceeds demand," says Faye
