The number of UK brokers will fall below 4000 in the next five years,
was the majority consensus of the attendees at the round table event.


Paul Picknett, director of corporate strategy and support at Groupama,
said: "A few years ago, we thought there were about 10,000 brokers, now
there are about 6000 and in five years there will be fewer than 4000. If
you plot the progression, the decline is that dramatic or more."


Bob Eveleigh, commercial lines executive at Allianz Cornhill, commented:
