Norman Insurance has signalled its intention to grow its business by
merger and acquisition.


In the chairman's statement for 1997, Peter Woolterton said that Norman
has been slowly expanding via organic growth, but is now looking for
potential acquisitions.


"We are keeping a watch for a situation where lines of business exist that
are complementary to ours, where operational synergies occur and where a
merger or acquisition will bring all-round advantages," he said.


In its results for 1997, Norman
