A number of brokers are sceptical about IT offerings aimed at the broker market. Mark Birrell argues that technology should be embraced to help with Financial Services Authority regulation and to drive out costs
While there is a whole host of IT offerings aimed at the broker market, some brokers are remaining sceptical. Since imarket, which enables intermediaries to trade several business lines over the internet, began in 2003, attitudes have started to change. The take up has varied, with some larger brokers embracing change at one end of the spectrum, to other brokers still heavily relying on paper filing systems at the other.
Technology is increasingly becoming a part of best practice for brokers
