The government's new Passports for Pets initiative could give the flagging pet insurance market the boost it badly needs, as pets will now have to have travel insurance cover similar to that of their owners, says Shona Cronin.
On 28 February this year, the government introduced the Passports forPets scheme, which allows owners to take their pets abroad without having
to place them in quarantine for six months on their return. This new
initiative could provide the pet insurance market with the added boost
which it seriously needs, as pets will now have similar travel insurance
requirements to that of their owners.
