Profitability has risen sharply in the general insurance market as a whole, but has fallen in broking, according to the CBI's latest quarterly financial services survey.
The general insurers were one of only two major sectors reporting a rise in business confidence. This sector also reported sharp increases in business volume, average commissions and employment levels. The CBI attributed the rises to an upswing in the insurance cycle.
