Biba queries "misleading" survey on aggregator commission levels
The British Brokers’ Association (Biba) has questioned a recent YouGov survey which stated that the average commission taken by comparison sites stood at 24%.
The survey, conducted with new aggregator Saveitbuddy.com, claimed that comparison sites took over £650m in commission from consumers.
On average brokers charge between 10-15% in commission and Graeme Trudgill, head of corporate affairs at Biba, said he thought the claim that comparison sites took 24% in commission was not realistic. While he said he was not surprised by the headline figure of £650m, he put this down to volume rather than commission levels.
