Banks' "immoral" conditional lending still alive and well
Banks are still abusing their position by placing undue pressure on SMEs to use their preferred intermediaries, according to the broking community.
In October last year, Insurance Age exposed the practice of banks using conditional lending to the detriment of other brokers. These brokers felt that banks were pressurising small commercial clients seeking loans or overdraft extensions to take out insurance with their preferred broker.
Ten months on, brokers have spoken out again claiming that certain banks are still operating these arrangements which the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) said went against section 103 of the
