GP charges for whiplash will not reduce false claims, expert says
Doctors are charging patients £21 to diagnose whiplash in an effort to weed out fake personal injury claims, the Mail Online has reported.
However, Craig Budsworth, trainer at the Motor Accident Solicitors Society, said he did not think this practice would create a barrier for false claimants.
"When a person makes a claim, the court looks for a report from a non-treating expert," he said, explaining that evidence from a GP who treated a patient immediately following an accident would not be relevant, due to issues of impartiality.
