“I can’t escape the feeling that the very foundations of RSA’s approach are shaky”
I actually have quite a lot of sympathy for RSA when it comes to their personal lines motor business. They aren’t a charity so why should they write business unprofitably or not profitably enough? Pulling back in an area where you lack either expertise or scale (or both) is a grown-up sensible decision.
Where I am confused though is around the wording of the statement that explained this latest decision. If they were cutting 35% of broker relationships on the basis that they were loss making, or
