PIB rumoured for Carlyle Group acquisition

Reports say that Carlyle Group is in lead to buy the Birmingham-based broker headed up by Brendan McManus.

Carlyle Group, a private equity organisation where Nicolas Sarkozy's half-brother Olivier is a partner, is in advanced talks to buy a stake in PIB, according to reports.

Sky News reported that the global private equity house was looking to use PIB to consolidate the broking sector further.

The value of the deal is undisclosed but is believed to be multimillion.

The article indicated that Sarkozy is leading the talks.
