Six pugnacious brokers have stayed on as councillors at the IBRC. They will do all they can to maintain high standards, but you must do your bit. You must renew your registration.
In July, the government finally announced that the Insurance BrokersRegistration Act would be repealed. As a result, the Registration Council
had to take into account the possible reduction of income in 1999. It also
meant that if the council's expenses outstripped its income in 1999 then
the members would become individually financially responsible for any
shortfall. It was decided that there was no option but to substantially
reduce the expense base of IBRC. This led to redundancies and
