Rating agency AM Best has announced that European January renewals indicate that underwriting discipline is currently being maintained, despite wide capacity availability.
In a statement, AM Best said that, in the main, premium rates have decreased moderately but forthcoming renewals throughout 2005 and the first quarter of 2006 would be decisive. However, AM Best also warned that traditional leading reinsurers could be poised to capitalise on their strong business position to withstand market
