Bedroom-rated household policies have been popular for over 20 years but Jane Coppard asks whether their convenience means other, possibly more appropriate policies, are being overlooked.
To bedroom rate or not to bedroom rate? The question sounds simpleenough, but is it? Brokers arrange household cover for their clients day
in day out, whether they are looking to cover a one bedroom flat in the
London Docklands or a 10 bedroom country pile on the Welsh borders.
However, the simplicity of arranging a bedroom-rated policy can often
dissuade both the client and broker from seeking a comparison with a sum
insured product, or checking that the cover provided is adequate for the
client
