Ever-tightening health and safety rules, and employment legislation,
ought to be prompting a growing number of small to medium-sized companies
without big in-house legal departments to take out commercial legal
expenses cover.


The European Union-driven Working Time Regulations 1998, which took effect
last October, represent a particular minefield for employers, warns Abbey
Legal Protection (ALP). Its legal advice line is taking up to 50 calls a
day from bosses worried about their implications.
