The House of Lords' recent decision to overturn the verdicts in
Fairchild, Fox and Matthews means many cases involving workers suffering
from asbestos-related mesothelioma can proceed.


The original verdicts stated compensation could not be paid in cases where
suffers had been exposed to asbestos by more than one employer, as it was
impossible to tell where the fatal fibres were actually inhaled.


The Law Lords examined test cases brought by a man who has mesothelioma
and two widows whose husbands
