One in four households in the UK have no insurance to cover the
contents of their home, according to a survey by Mori for Abbey National.
However, more than a third of Britons think their home contents are worth
more than £35,000 and nearly one fifth said over £50,000. This suggests at
least 6.3 million households would have no contents insurance cover in the
event of a loss or damage to their belongings. Mori estimates this could
amount to over £157bn of uninsured contents in the UK.
