A break from the Norm.
Norman is dropping its name in favour of that of its parent in an effort to boost its image. The company is also boosting its broker service and venturing into the world of e-commerce, Norman's chief executive Garry Fearn tells Tim Collison.
Television advertising has seen to it that the name Norman is nowsynonymous with a geek in an anorak. The conquests in the 11th and 12th
centuries and the region in the Northern France come way behind in the
public recognition stakes.
It is for this reason that Norman Insurance is, not surprisingly,
following its parent's lead and changing its name. At the end of last
year, Norman's owner reduced its name from Les Mutuelles du Mans Assurance
- a mouthful in anybody's books - to the more palatable
