A weather service start-up has begun providing five-day forecasts for European windstorms and their potential wind damage. The web-based service, called EuroTempest, offers local forecasts, down to postcode level. The service includes warnings for the severity and timing of high windspeeds in all other European countries. Forecasts from the GE Insurance and Royal & SunAlliance-sponsored venture are accessible free of charge for the winter 2005/6 season at www.eurotempest.com.
