Generali's £7.64bn takeover of INA, Assitalia's parent, has been
cleared by the European Commission, after the Italian giant agreed a
series of disposals and corporate governance commitments.

These include Generali's 6.56% stake in the Florence-based insurer
Fondiaria as well as the sale of controlling stakes in three life insurers
- Prime Augusta Vita, Casse e Generali Vita and Aurora. The sales will
reduce the combined Generali-INA market share in the Italian life
insurance sector by 7-8%
