Marsh has restructured its UK commercial operation following two recent mega-mergers. Tim Collison spoke to Joe Grogan about the strategy behind the new Advantage operation and Marsh's attitude to the SME sector.

The small and medium enterprise sector has become one of the most
fiercely competitive markets in the insurance industry. Once largely the
preserve of the regional broker, the sector is now everybody's hunting
ground. And that includes the nationals.


Willis shocked the industry last year with the launch of its network.


Conceding that it could not compete with local brokers in the SME market,
it started recruiting a network of regional brokers in order to attack
this sector.


Marsh, on the other hand
