The Lord Chancellor has made a 0.5% reduction to the discount ratefor personal injury claims - the rate of return the court will assume a
claimant can recover. The rate is now 2.5%, rather than the 3% discount
rate guidelines set by the House of Lords following Wells V Wells in 1999.
John Yates, partner at law firm Kennedys' Brentwood office, said: "All
pending personal injury cases with potential damages for future loss will
be affected."
