Mark Hodges resignation as CEO of Towergate was the standout development of last month’s market moves. It was a surprise to some in the industry and the company is yet to appoint a direct replacement. The development is covered in depth on page six. There was plenty of other news as well, Arthur J Gallagher stayed in the spotlight as a seemingly permanent hub of comings and goings, most notably with departure of UK Retail CEO Peter Blanc (see box). Swinton also saw a high profile departure as Carolyn Callan left the business. Where the insurers are concerned there was definitely no shortage of headline grabbing market moves. Axa figured fairly prominently while at QBE there was a raft of changes, including the departures of five managers in a significant restructure. Meanwhile over at Zurich, Vibhu Sharma was confirmed as being set to step up as CEO of UK general insurance business when Dave Smith retires next April.

Brokers

Integro hired film and television insurance experts Paul Hillier and Shaun Emery as it sought to expand its film and television team in the UK and North America. Emery was previously employed by Aon where he worked on a large television broadcast facility and Hillier joins from Robertson Taylor where he headed the film and media unit.
