Market moves: Starting with a bang
Brokers and insurers have started the year off with a bang – or for many at least a fresh challenge in the shape of a new job.
Insurers have been particularly busy lately, with Aviva and AIG making changes to their top layers and RSA and Covéa hiring new employees. In addition, HCC has hired a new liability underwriter and ERS added two staff on the claims side. Brokers have been relatively quiet during the past month, perhaps saving their energy for future activities. FSCS gives first insight on increasing levy to £394m
The Financial Services Compensation Scheme has indicated its levy for 2025/26 will rise to £394m from £265m this financial year as it cited having lower surpluses to carry forward and offset bills – a factor that has benefited brokers for two years in a row.
