Market moves: Starting with a bang

Brokers and insurers have started the year off with a bang – or for many at least a fresh challenge in the shape of a new job.

Insurers have been particularly busy lately, with Aviva and AIG making changes to their top layers and RSA and Covéa hiring new employees. In addition, HCC has hired a new liability underwriter and ERS added two staff on the claims side. Brokers have been relatively quiet during the past month, perhaps saving their energy for future activities. Broker optimism on the up in fleet

Direct Commercial’s latest broker barometer has found 56% of brokers experienced difficulties in securing coverage for smaller fleets in the last quarter, a slight improvement from 60% earlier in the year.
