Market moves: All the fun of the fair

Summer is traditionally the time for going on holiday. The urban legend is that September follows as the month with the highest number of resignations. People coming back have reflected, probably on a beach, that they did not enjoy their job and become determined to take the plunge and look elsewhere. In the main the insurance market has certainly fulfilled the first half of the axiom with a period of low activity. However, one niche bucking the trend is the high net worth sector. Although it managed the feat in a style that was reminiscent of all the fun of the fair, most notably the carousel. Elsewhere, everybody was looking for growth.

Chartis added two to its core underwriting team based in London with Barry Taylor joining from Chubb and John Montgomery (pictured left) arriving from Brit. Both men will work across the whole portfolio of risks rather than focusing on any individual line.
