Confused.com admits surprise at NU’s move away from comparison sites

Following the news that Norwich Union (NU) had decided to withdraw all its direct motor products from comparisons sites, Peter Ablett, commercial director at Confused.com, commented: “We were surprised when we heard that NU had decided to stop using comparison sites, however, customers will still be able to compare their policies on Confused.com through several well known brokers.

“For consumers, comparison sites offer a really quick, easy way of comparing prices across a broad range of insurers and saving money. Unfortunately, for some insurers, this transparency can highlight uncompetitive quotes or policy cover.

“Most insurers have risen to the challenge that comparison sites laid down and are offering consumers more competitive quotes than ever before, either in terms of price, cover or a combination of the two – which is why we offer both price and policy cover
