Campaign launched to reduce SME premiums
Insurers should offer reduced premiums to small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) customers who take sustained steps to invest in effective risk management strategies and solutions – according to a campaign launched today. In a statement, document managment company, Diraq, said health insurers, such as PruHealth, have for some time offered reduced premiums to customers who endeavour to improve their health. Diraq, which contributes one factor in companies’ disaster recovery strategies, said it believed it is now time for businesses insurers to follow suit and has launched a lobbying programme in support of small businesses that stand to gain more than most by a change of approach.
'The majority of health insurers offer discounts to customers who regularly visit the gym and reward those who purchase exercise equipment. They offer support for people who try to give up smoking, inexpensive health screen and incentives for customers to eat more fruit and vegetables. Their philosophy is to reward members for staying healthy and effectively minimising their ‘risk’ of needing healthcare or treatment and there is no reason why business insurers should not be rewarding companies
