A broker has called for direct insurers and comparison sites to team up with intermediaries to encourage consumers to become more transparent about claims and convictions.
Neil Cook, head of commercial and specialist risks at Delite Insurance Agency, said: "Consumers are not deliberately withholding information, but at least 20% of policies are cancelled because the directs are not asking policyholders about their previous claims, convictions or unusual circumstances or requirements."
Mr Cook said
