UK insurers that have not bought brokers to secure market distribution may have missed the boat in the battle over UK distribution, according to the head of the Axa Group.

When questioned on Axa's recent strategy of buying UK brokers, chief executive officer Henri de Castries defended its position by stating: "We had to make a strategic move, as Towergate was seizing large chunks of the market.
