Hiscox has warned it has seen a threefold rise in insurance claims over the last quarter from small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) being sued for unfair dismissals.
In particular, Hiscox found that because businesses were not following statutory procedures when making employees redundant, they were leaving themselves exposed to significant claims from former employees.
Making staff redundant requires strict adherence to recognised procedures if a business is to protect itself from suffering
