The crash repair bills of UK motorists are being increased unnecessarily by more than £2bn a year because bumpers do not bump, according to research from Thatcham. Matthew Avery, research manager at Thatcham, said: "It is time manufacturers addressed this issue, and fitted vehicles with bumpers that bump. Not only would it reduce claims costs, but it would have a beneficial impact on the environment."
