The Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB) is rolling out CSC's Colossus software in order to help it to assess personal injury claims in a more fair and consistent way.

The new system is specifically designed to fully automate the assessment of claims, removing the tendency of claims handlers to come up with different pay-outs for a similar injury.

Thousands of rules that are intended to help adjusters assess a wide variety of claims and medical information have been written into the system.
