Oil company Total has lost its high court battle with Chevron, making it liable for more than half a billion pounds worth of claims amounting from the Buncefield oil explosion. The judgment comes three years after the explosion at Buncefield fuel storage depot in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire on 11 December 2005.
