Insurers warned they must respond to rise in aggravated burglary
Chubb is calling on UK insurers to provide support and protection for homeowners against the traumatic effects of aggravated burglary. The call comes with the release of the high net worth insurer's review of the impact of aggravated burglary in England and Wales.
With 51% of burglaries taking place when somebody is at home and 25% of occupants knowing that the offence is taking place, the potential for confrontation is now clearly present in one in four burglaries. Actual violence is now used during approximately 10% of intrusions.Because of the increasing threat of home invasion, 50% of the British population now admits to being either fairly or very worried about burglary. 40% are worried about the possibility of physical attack.
