Zero-settlement household claims rises to over 50%

The rate of suspicious household claims with zero settlements increased in the first quarter of 2009 to 53% overall on the amount of claims over the previous quarter, according to Innovation Group's statistics.

The insurance and automotive industry outsourcing and solutions provider, based its results on the almost 4,000 suspicious household claims it handled. Of these, the largest number was for audio/visual and computing equipment such as laptops and televisions, with the second greatest amount being for accidental contents damage such as damage to flooring or carpeting. Claims for loss or damage to personal possessions such as jewellery or personal money also made up a significant portion of those
