APC has revealed that it is seeking to acquire an underwriting agency as part of its strategic growth plans.

The company has told Insurance Age's sister magazine Post that it will look to buy a niche managing agent with a book of business up to £5m premium income.

Brian Russell, chief executive of the commercial insurance underwriting agency, said: "We believe there are 320 underwriting agencies that fit within that bracket, with 80% of those being wholesalers."
