MMA announces appointment of new chairman

MMA Insurance has appointed Graham Doswell as its new chairman.

He replaces Scott Nelson who stands down after five years as chairman and nine years in total on the MMA board.

MMA said that Mr Doswell brings considerable experience with him amassed during 44 years working within the insurance market. After spending the first 22 years of his career in various roles within Sun Alliance, he moved to Ecclesiastical where he served until his retirement in February 2007, having been group chief executive for more than nine years. Industry reacts to discount rate change

Insurance industry specialists have welcomed the government moving the personal injury discount rate to 0.5% with PwC calculating it will lower motor premiums by £50 on average.
