Brokers forewarned to revise SME advice once CRC comes into force

Carbon emission

Brokers have been warned against complacency in the face of the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) scheme, as the small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) market will eventually feel the brunt of it once it has been filtered through larger organisations.

The CRC, which will launch in 2010, could affect up to 20,000 UK businesses, from supermarkets and banks to central government departments.

The scheme will provide an incentive for companies to reduce carbon emissions by placing a price on them
