AA Insurance warns motor premiums could rise if new proposals given green light
The broker is concerned about plans to allow police to issue fixed penalty notices for careless driving
AA Insurance is concerned proposals to allow police to issue fixed penalty notices for careless driving could trivialise the offence and lead to consequent increases in car insurance premiums.
At present, AA Insurance said the offence of careless driving must be proven by a magistrate’s court and the maximum penalty is 9 points and a £5,000 fine.
