Brightside's insurance broking revenues rise

The group's insurance broker division has reported an increase in revenue to £14.4m

Brightside Group’s insurance broker division has reported a rise in revenue to £14.4m for the first half of 2009, compared to £12.6m for the same period last year.

The insurance broker arm’s profits have increased to £2.2m for the six months ending 30 June (H1 2008: £2m).

Boosted by the acquisition of the eVan policy book from Southern Rock insurance in Q4 of 2008, the group sold 56,073 commercial vehicle policies – an increase of 20% over the same period last year.

Overall the group sold 18,940
