Allianz aims to cut BER settlement to five days

Two car shunt

A new team has been appointed within the Allianz Insurance claims division to focus on beyond economical repair (BER) claims.

Allianz said the team of 10, lead by team leader Andrew Hooper, will reduce the number of departments involved in BER decisions, resulting in faster customer settlements.

The insurer said: "As soon as a motor claim is reported, the process uses computer software to assist in determining whether the vehicle is beyond economical repair. Settlement values are calculated using the internet to gather real-time market prices and a final value agreed with the claimant over the phone."
