E-commerce: Brokers urged to prepare for increase in mobile web access
The insurance industry has been urged to invest in e-commerce as mobile phones are predicted to overtake PCs as the dominant web access device within three years.
Mark Roberts, vice president of telecoms, insurance and government at CGI, said insurers and brokers with a web presence had to start looking at developing a mobile counterpart.
According to a forecast from Gartner, mobile phones are due to surpass PCs as the most popular web access device worldwide by 2013.
Speaking at CGI's insurance customers conference, Mr Roberts pointed out that on a global basis smartphones, which offer more advanced capabilities, represented 14% of all handsets sold in
